Ringtails (Aka: Miner’s cat, Ringtail cat)

Ringtails are nocturnal omnivores that munch on anything from beans and bugs to small mammals like mice.

Relatives of raccoons and coati, Ringtails have the most distinctively....ringed....tail.

While they used to be called "Ringtail cats", they are not cats at all, and that part of the name was dropped. Another common name is the miner's cat.
While they prefer rocky canyons and more forested areas, some attics in Tucson make for perfect ringtail homes.

Ringtails MO is the sound of something rolling a bowling ball around in the attic.

Ringtails rear feet pivot 180 degrees, allowing them to "walk" straight down the trunks of trees or walls.

Ringtail tracks on a roof. It's always a treat to find ringtail evidence.
